Mainland and Taiwan Students Celebrate Xiao Nian Festival

Organized by China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF) and China Tide Foundation in Taiwan, a delegation of 138 young students from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan kicked off a 10-day visit in Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Beijing from January 24 to February 2, 2016.

February 1 is the 23rd of the 12th month of the lunar year, when sacrifices are made to the kitchen god. CSCLF held a celebration party for these students. Qi Mingqiu, Standing Vice Chairman of CSCLF, attended the party and delivered a speech. Qi expressed his welcome to these students. He said CSCLF had been cooperating with China Tide Foundation for 20 years. They were happy to see over 10 thousand students widen their horizon, make friends and speed up their growth through the platform. He also hoped young friends from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan cherished the time, and made life-long friends.

Zhang Xiaoping, director and executive secretary of China Tide Foundation in Taiwan, hoped more universities and young people could participate in the exchange activities, and gain more direct experience about the Chinese mainland through the visit. The two foundations had been cooperating for a long time, and they hoped young people from Chinese mainland and Taiwan could participate in the exchange sincerely, genuinely and honestly, and cherish the precious opportunity.

China Tide Foundation in Taiwan donates to CSCLF Cross-strait, Hong Kong and Macao Exchanges and Cooperation Fund. Representatives from the two foundations present letters to each other.

The party was planned, prepared, arranged and performed by young students from Chinese mainland and Taiwan. It offered chances for them to show their talents. Their performance, videos, and birthday celebrations impressed everyone attending the party. Chen Aimin, director of CSCLF Liaison Department, and people in charge of Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao Department attended the party.

During their visit in Beijing, students arranged their tour and schedule. They live in local people's homes, experience their lives and folk culture. Students also came to the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports, experienced martial arts lessons, practiced Tai chi, and gained a deep understanding of Chinese martial arts culture.
