Symposium of 83rd Anni. of Far East Anti-war Conference Held in Beijing

A symposium to commemorate the 83rd anniversary of the Far East Anti-war Conference was held in the Former Residence of Soong Ching-ling on May 27, 2016. Chen Haosu, former chairman of Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Zhuang Yanlin, former chairman of China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Ai Duo, director of research center of China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), Tao Song, deputy office director of Shanghai Sun Yat-sen and Soong Ching-ling Heritage Management Committee, addressed the symposium. Those attending the symposium included offspring of people participating in the preparation work of the Far East Anti-war Conference: Lou Sui, daughter of Lou Shiyi, Luo Jienan, daughter of Huang Lin, Li Lansong, son of Li Youran, Wu Zongxia, son of Wu Juexian, Liu Kang, grandson of Zhu De, Zhou Bingyi, niece of Zhou Enlai, Huang Daohong, son of Huang Jieran, Jiang Wen, Son of Jiang Feng, Wu Jianguo, grandson of Wu Hujing, and Lin Genggeng, daughter of Lin Feng.

Scholars, experts and revolutionary offspring reviewed and interpreted the background, preparation process and profound influence of the conference held over 80 years ago. They paid special attention and studied the special role that Madame Soong Ching-ling played while preparing for the conference.

Backgrounder:

The Far East Anti-war Conference was held in Shanghai on September 30, 1933. It was an international conference against Imperialism, Fascism and Japanese aggression against China, which was supported by the Chinese Communist Party, and organized by China League for Civil Rights led by Madame Soong Ching-ling. Soong played a key role in preparing and organizing the conference.
