In China, a harmonious society is designed for its 56 ethnic groups that share a common civilization. In the big family of the Chinese nation, we can achieve a harmonious country only when the society enjoys national unity, progress and gives birth to a multitude of talents. Outstanding students from various ethnic groups are the future of the nation and they assume important historic missions entrusted by the times. The Enterprise Department as well as the staff and sales agents of Jin Zheng Company jointly donated RMB 5 million to the Fund, including RMB 2.5 million in cash and another RMB 2.5 million in company products. The Fund will organize annual public welfare activities under the theme of "training talents for the society and creating a future for the nation" for five consecutive years. Outstanding students from the 56 ethnic groups will be elected and awarded.
Beginning 2006, the fund will look for outstanding girl university students from different ethnic groups, who excel academically or have special talents in the fields of culture and arts. Every year, 112 girl university students from the 56 ethnic groups will be awarded as "Ethnic Flowers". And a total of 560 girl university students will be awarded within five years. The Fund will follow the progress of the winners of the awards in the hope of cultivating more ethnic talents for the big family of the nation. Besides, the Fund will also give awards to the universities and teachers who have contributed to the cultivation of the "Ethnic Flowers". It will also launch a pilot project in Xinjiang University to provide free physical checkups for freshmen who have financial difficulties.
The Fund's establishment is significant, because the winners of the awards will carry out the mission of promoting their ethnic cultures and arts and in the meantime, more people will know about the Fund. The promotion of ethnic culture and arts throughout the country will help enhance university students' understanding of ethnic culture, develop a national spirit, improve their social and practical abilities and encourage students of various ethnic groups to contribute their talent to the rejuvenation of our great nation.
